Fishing at Two Forks takes place on the banks
of the Elkhorn River. The Elkhorn River originates in
north-central Nebraska near the counties of Holt and Rock. The
river flows from northwest to southeast until it meets with the Platte
River near Gretna, Nebraska. As the river meanders through
northeast Nebraska, it passes right along the banks of Two Forks
Recreation. The name "Two Forks" actually comes from the
intersections that occur with the Butterfly Creek and Union Creek on the
southern side of the river. There are multiple places from which
to access the river at Two Forks. Many of these places only
require a few footsteps from your vehicle to the river's edge.
The species of fish that live in the waters of
the Elkhorn River are those that also commonly occupy the Platte and
Missouri rivers. The most common species are shown below along
with the current Nebraska state record for each.
